“Our previous work had suggested that bottled water production was an energy-intensive process, but we were surprised to see that the energy equivalent of nearly 17 million barrels of oil are required to produce the PET bottles alone,” Cooley told PhysOrg.com.

  1. My name is Daniella Welsh. I am allergic to plastic, having been sensitized after wearing a plastic orthodontic retainer for one year; I have had two medical tests confirming this.
For the past 9 years I have endured numerous ambulance emergencies with difficulty breathing, swelling, hives, painful peeling lips, depression, and seizures that have resulted in brain damage. I have had to relearn to read and write. It has come to my attention that I am far from alone in suffering from synthetic estrogens and chemicals from plastics in our food and in our environment. I believe that laws must be implemented to protect people and the eco-system from this multi-billion dollar industry.
Most food comes in plastics and this makes life quite difficult. I am 24 years old and currently enrolled in community college in Mendocino and have started my own non-profit (focused on preventing depression), called Pathway by Time, to help others avoid what I have gone through. With a petition, I hope to begin the process to make it illegal to put the certified organic label as well as the hormone free label, on foods that are packaged in plastics and steeping in dangerous chemicals not the least of which are the synthetic estrogens. I am very concerned that unborn babies are also being affected by this problem. A college acquaintance of mine who worked in a plastic factory for 30 years, had her health destroyed, endures painful symptoms and is now ready to reveal important untold secrets of the industry. Would you be interested in knowing more about any of this?
There are so many problems we are facing in the world today; imagine that in addressing this one alone, so many can be significantly reduced. Though plastic has devastated my life to a large extent, I am grateful at least to have discovered the cause of my symptoms and this may enable me to help others.

  2. Amazing! I read for first time so real information. I know that plastic is not eco-friendly but you gave a reason why. Thank you for sharing such a useful information. I will share it. Best regards!
